Rita Rooney, LICSW

Having been a social worker over the last 21 years, my ever-evolving approach to helping others heal has been enriched by my experiences working with a diverse community of clients. I strive to be both a guide and a partner in my client’s journey — learning to walk with them as they intuitively discover their own paths, choices and solutions. Utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches, I am especially attuned to the capacity that clients have to reshape their narratives. The psychospiritual aspects of IFS and the adaptive information processing theory behind EMDR have been especially powerful and impactful. I am strongly influenced by motivational interviewing and by the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
